Be curious... ask questions!


So your interview is confirmed and you have done your research, now it’s time to prepare your questions for them during the interview. You will probably have questions from the research you have already done in addition to the generic questions you may have about the company, the role, the hiring manager and company ambitions as an example.

Here are some useful areas to probe them further on as you should obtain the basics from your own research:- (eg: T/O, employees, sites, manager background etc)


The company
  • Why do people join and why do they stay?
  • What separates you from your competitors?
  • What does the past, present and future look like?

The team / department
  • How many and how is it structured?
  • Where does this role sit within the team?
  • How would you describe the characters, personalities and culture of the current team?

The role
  • What is the role required?
  • How would you describe a typical day in this role?
  • What does success look like in this role?

Prospects / career development
  • What routes are available within the company after this role?
  • Are there any examples of people within the business who have progressed?
  • What training and development do you offer that will help progression?
